Tips to Protect Your Home While on Vacation

You do all you can to make your home a safe and secure place to live, but these security measures happen every day while you are at home. What happens when you leave to go out of town leaving the property vacant for days on end? Here are local locksmith greeley home helpful tips to protect your home while on vacation.

Lock Up

While turning the lock on your door may sound like an obvious tip, you may be surprised how many people miss an opening to their home. Lock every possible entry point to your home including garage doors especially those you usually don’t lock or deadbolt. Don’t overlook entry points such as pet doors that need to be secured before you leave. Vacation time is a good time to use those deadbolts. Lock every window and every door, and don’t leave out a spare key. Only give a spare to someone you absolutely trust.

Stop Mail and Ask Someone To Watch Your Property

Of course, have your mail stopped if you are gone for longer than a weekday. Also, call upon the help of a trusting neighbor or friend who is willing to pop by your house. Ask them to keep an eye on your property to help pick up newspapers or packages that are delivered. Your home can become a target when would-be crooks watch and notice that a newspaper has not been picked up or mail or a package has been sitting on the porch for a while. Don’t let this happen to you. If you are gone for a few days or longer, have your lawn mowed and flowers or garden watered. If you are gone during winter or fall months, have someone shovel the driveway or rake the leaves.

Lights, Action,  Sound

Among the best tips to protect your home while on vacation include making your home looked as if it is currently occupied. This can be accomplished by using timers to turn on and off lights or electronics and television sets that produce noise that is often all you need to make a crook think twice before attempting entry.

Social Media

Be careful what you post on social media. While you may think only your friends are seeing your posts, the best rule of thumb is to understand that anything you post online can become public quickly. Don’t mention specific dates or locations as to when you will be gone. Wait to post your vacation photos instead of checking in or announcing you are at the airport.

Safe

Put your valuables inside your home safe before you leave. Valuables to lock up before you leave include anything you will not be bringing along for the trip such as cash, jewelry, heirlooms, and any important papers. Of course, make sure your safe is bolted to a floorboard or safely installed properly inside a wall so the crook cannot grab it and run.

RESIDENTIAL LAWN CARE IN ATLANTA, GA

The Basics of the Lawn-Care Biz

As you know, lawn maintenance is a seasonal business, with downtime during the winter in about two-thirds of the country. Depending on your area and climate, the prime growing months run from about April to early October. You'll need to market your services aggressively in the spring so you'll have enough clients to carry you through the summer. Then, in the fall, you should be winterizing lawns, raking leaves and collecting past-due accounts. Still have energy left to spare? Then during the winter, you can offer services like snow plowing. If you decide to take a well-deserved break instead, you'll have to make sure in advance that you've budgeted wisely throughout the year and have sufficient funds to carry you through those income-free months.
The typical startup lawn care business services 20 to 30 residential clients a week and offers up to three types of services: mowing, fertilizing and chemical application. For the purpose of the lawn care part of this book, we'll focus on mowing and fertilizing, since chemical applications (herbicides, pesticides and fungicides) are a whole industry unto themselves. It's also a closely regulated industry that requires practitioners to earn certifications that permit them to handle these hazardous compounds.
Most lawn care service owners prefer to start out with basic mowing and add other services as they become more experienced and acquire more equipment ET Lawn Care LLC.
Grass Attack
Basic lawn maintenance consists of mowing, edging and trimming. Often, bush and hedge trimming is offered as an extra service, but it's more time-consuming and requires more manual dexterity than mowing. Lawn businesses sometimes send out two people to a job site so one person can do the mowing while the other edges and trims the areas the mower can't reach. But if you're a one-man (or one-woman) band, you'll just have to allot extra time on each site to complete both jobs. Fortunately, not all lawns have to be edged every time you mow. Sometimes only minor touch-ups are necessary, which you can do using a hand edger.
It's crucial to the survival of your business to keep all your equipment in peak working condition. That means cleaning the mower blades at the end of each day and using a grinding wheel regularly to keep them sharp. You should also use a balancing weight to prolong engine life and to help prevent white finger, a form of Raynaud's disease caused by exposure to constant vibration from equipment like lawn mowers. Clean oil and air filters regularly to keep engine wear to a minimum and improve performance. The oil should also be changed often-as often as once a week, since the high heat of the mower causes lubricants to break down fast.
It goes without saying that you should take every precaution possible to protect yourself while working. Always wear safety goggles and ear protection, and always remember to let your mower cool down completely before you gas it up. Because the cutting blade can rotate at up to 200 miles per hour, never put your hand into the discharge chute or turn the mower over while the blade is spinning. In addition to the obvious injuries it can inflict, that razor-sharp blade can catapult projectiles like rocks, metal or even compacted grass that can do a body some serious damage.
Guesstimating Your Worth
Another important part of the job is providing estimates to prospective clients. Unfortunately, this is an inexact science, at best. Most of the owners we spoke with "guesstimate" how much time it will take them to mow a homeowner's property, then multiply that by a price per hour. The problem with this method is that land features like slopes and ornamental landscaping can affect the time. For example, let's say it will take you 70 minutes to mow a 10,000-square-foot property using a 22-inch mower. But toss in a backyard that's landscaped with driftwood and rocks and has a raised vegetable garden, and your estimate is no longer quite as accurate.
Experts recommend pricing based on lawn size. It's less arbitrary to set up a pricing structure this way, plus you'll seem more professional to your prospects if you have an established, formal price structure. You can compensate for unusual land features by building an extra amount-say, 10 percent-into your price.
Establishing Prices
Before you can make an estimate, you have to know how much to charge per square foot. Since the lawn care industry is so competitive, it's important not to overprice your services. The professional organizations and publications that serve the lawn care industry may be able to help, because many of them conduct annual member studies. In particular, you may find Lawn & Landscape magazine's State of the Industry Report, which appears in its October issue, to be particularly enlightening.
But you can also figure out how much the market will bear by calculating the size of your own lot and calling a few of the lawn care companies in the Yellow Pages for an estimate. (Typically, owners of lawn care services calculate their prices based on the total square footage of the lot. They can usually estimate roughly how much of a lot is landscaping.) Then recruit a few family members and friends to call for quotes on their lawns, too, so you can get a feel for prices on lots of different sizes. This will help you determine the acceptable price range in your community, and then it's easy to figure out where to price your services. This method works especially well if you're doing business in a community with uniformly platted subdivisions or other similarly sized lots.
Incidentally, while you don't want to be the most expensive service in town, you don't have to undercut the competition to get jobs, either. Pricing your services somewhere in the middle or toward the top of the range is a good rule of thumb. Then it's up to you to demonstrate that your professionalism, quality service and reliability set you apart from the competition and justify a higher price than the cheapest kid on the block.
The owners interviewed for this book charge anywhere from $20 to $85 per cut. Others charge a flat rate like $100 per month or $40 per hour. All of them base their estimates on a visual inspection of the property, and some measured the mowing area as described above.
Weathering the Storm(s)
Then there are weather issues to contend with. Even in the sunniest of climes, you are likely to have days when you can't mow or plant or prune-like when the winds reach hurricane speed or you notice your neighbor is building an ark. There's not much you can do when grass and landscaping are wet-except maybe catch up on paperwork, lust over equipment catalogs and read e-mail. That's why many green industry service providers choose to work a five-day workweek, leaving Saturdays (and Sundays, if necessary) unscheduled just in case the weather wreaks havoc with their work plans. Alternatively, you can work longer hours on a regular maintenance day to catch up-chances are people won't even blink if you're out merrily mowing or trimming as the sun is setting because it means they don't have to.
There's one more weather phenomenon you may actually welcome, at least in the northern tier of the country. Snow plowing can be a very lucrative mainstay for or sideline to add to your lawn or landscaping business. It doesn't cost much to launch a snow removal service-basically you need only a snow blade for your mower or truck and some extra advertising efforts. (Food for thought: Michigan landscaper Michael Collins, who runs Celtic Lawn & Landscape with Karen Deighton, reports that he gets 70 percent of his snow plowing business through his website.) Best of all, offering such a service means you'll have a regular income stream even during the slowest part of the year.
You also could get creative like Albert Towns Jr., a Detroit lawn care service provider who supplements his wintertime income both by putting up Christmas lights and by shoveling sidewalks for a number of elderly people. Then, in the spring, he does in-ground sprinkler system work to get his revenue stream off to a good start.

RHONY - Tinsley Mortimer Sets The Record Straight On Her Role In Season 12

Real Housewives of New York star Tinsley Mortimer is clearing things up about her role in Season 12. After her co-star Luann de Lesseps said at her Countess and Friends cabaret show last weekend that Mortimer had quit filming RHONY, Mortimer says that’s not true, and she is on her way back after taking some time off to celebrate her engagement to Coupon Cabin CEO Scott Kluth.
Mortimer told People magazine that she has been in Chicago with Kluth, and the last few weeks have been a “wonderful whirlwind of excitement” after he proposed to her in front of the Chicago Water Tower on November 24th. The 44-year-old says that they both wanted to spend this special time with each other and their families, and that’s why she hasn’t been filming with the rest of the RHONY cast in recent weeks. RHONY - Tinsley Mortimer Sets The Record Straight On Her Role In Season 12.
“As with many relationships, life does not completely stop for love, which is why I will continue to honor my work commitments in NYC while Scott focuses on CouponCabin’s busy season in Chicago,” said Mortimer.
She added that it was important for her to set the record straight, and any reports that claim she had to make a choice between Kluth and RHONY are “100 percent untrue.” Instead, Mortimer says they are just enjoying this happy time in their lives.
Mortimer also said in her statement that she would soon be calling the city of Chicago home. And, even though she didn’t come right out and say it, the implication was she would be finishing up her current contract for the rest of this season, and that would conclude her time on RHONY.
During de Lesseps’ show last Saturday, she told the audience at the Borgata Hotel and Casino in New Jersey during a Q&A that Mortimer was “not filming anymore,” and she missed out on the cast trip to Mexico. Even though an insider had previously claimed that Kluth wanted Mortimer to quit, she says that’s not true.
Another source said that Kluth is extremely supportive of Mortimer’s career, but he simply chose not to appear on RHONY.
“He’s an amazing, loving guy and wants nothing but her happiness,” says the insider.
Luann de Lesseps also said that she wishes Tinsley Mortimer “all the best,” and it’s time for her to get married and start a family like she’s always wanted.
New episodes of Real Housewives of New York will return to Bravo in 2020.

Update: Resident Evil 3 Remake Reveals A New Character 'Martin Sandwich' In Multiplayer Mode For Project Resistance

Recently, Capcom new release, Resident Evil 3 Remake has an asymmetrical multiplayer mode known as Resident Evil: Project Resistance. This mode has teams that would consist of four survivors whose main objective is to escape any deadly experiment overseen by a major opposing player controlling a character known as Mastermind.

Based on the story, a survivor that Capcom confirmed was one called Martin Sandwich. The young lad, Martin Sandwich, is a skilled mechanic and engineer based on Capcom’s description, which is quite awesome for a young, 12 years old boy. However, the common joke in the main Resident Evil is that Barry Burton saves his fellow STARS colleague Jill from having faced death, especially in a spooky-looking mansion. Update: Resident Evil 3 Remake Reveals A New Character 'Martin Sandwich' In Multiplayer Mode For Project Resistance.

‘That was extremely close,’ Barry noted. ‘You were almost toasting, like a Jill sandwich!’ However, Capcom reinstated that line for Resident Evil remake, which now became—’A second late, you would have fitted nicely into a sandwich,’ as Barry noted in that same version of the game. Coincidentally, the company did poke fun at itself later in Dead Rising, which had a particular restaurant name Jill’s Sandwiches.

For now, no one knows much about Mr. Sandwich, except the fact that he’s a skilled mechanic and engineer, and has traps that could potentially slow the enemy’s pace, but he certainly doesn’t look the part, to have that entitlement.

Also, Martin would have other characters join him like Becca, Samuel, Valerie, and January in Resident Evil Resistance, which is probably going to arrive alongside Capcom’s Resident Evil 3 remake on April 3, 2020.

But looking at the name ‘Martin Sandwich’ can only come up as a result of Japanese developers trying to come up with American names. That’s not what amazes everyone, what puts everyone at rest is the fact the story they created out for Martin Sandwich is cool. As a poor guy, Martin gets hired three weeks ago, stuck at his desk in the back corner trying to build traps for enemies, sounds convincing, and perfect for gamers in the US and diaspora.

Also, for the record, Sandwich is 19 and also seems to be a late addition to the squad in Resident Evil. Neither he nor his friend Becca was among the initial survivor who is shown in the gameplay overview trailer that got released in September.

Resident Evil: Project Resistance as a part of Resident Evil 3: Remake, will debut on April 3, 2020. Be sure to check out on their official website, Resident evil-com

Adam Sandler Threatens A Terrible Movie If He Doesn’t Win An Oscar In 2020

Adam Sandler says he’ll make a bad movie “on purpose” if he doesn’t win an Oscar for Uncut Gems. After a career-making stint on SNL, Sandler went on to become a massive superstar thanks to his turns in comedies like Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, and The Waterboy. In recent years, Sandler has moved away from making theatrical comedies to establish a new home on Netflix with formulaic crowd-pleasers like The Do-Over, The Week Of and 2019’s Murder Mystery.

Of course, over the years Sandler has had a few occasions to move outside his bro-comedy comfort zone and attempt “real” performances in movies by auteur directors. Adam Sandler Threatens To Make A Movie 'That Is So Bad On Purpose' If He Doesn't Win An Oscar In 2020. The first legit filmmaker to adopt Sandler as an unconventional leading man was Paul Thomas Anderson, who starred the comedian in his 2002 film Punch-Drunk Love. In 2017, Sandler joined Ben Stiller, Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson in Noah Baumbach’s ensemble comedy-drama The Meyerowitz Stories, and garnered some Oscar buzz (that ultimately did not lead to a nomination). In 2019, Sandler again finds himself gaining steam as an Oscar contender in the Safdie Brothers’ Uncut Gems, which stars the comedian as a New York jeweler on a high-stakes gambling spree.

Addressing the Oscar buzz about himself on The Howard Stern Show (via Canada), Sandler indicated that he fully expects to not only gain his first career nomination for Uncut Gems but to actually win. In fact, Sandler offered a joking threat to Academy members if they don’t fulfill his expectations and vote for him. “If I don’t get it, I’m going to f**king comeback and do one again that is so bad on purpose just to make you all pay,” Sandler quipped.

Unfortunately for Sandler, he will face some pretty stiff competition in the Best Actor category this year, as was already demonstrated when on Monday night he lost the Gotham Award to Adam Driver. Indeed, as of now, Driver seems to be a solid favorite to claim his own first career Oscar, with his performances in dramas Marriage Story and The Report. Joaquin Phoenix is also considered a strong contender for his turn as Arthur Fleck in the blockbuster Joker. Leonardo DiCaprio is generating significant buzz for his performance as washed-up cowboy actor Rick Dalton in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. As it happens, another actor who like Sandler has SNL and Netflix ties, Eddie Murphy, is also considered a contender for his work as Rudy Ray Moore in Dolemite Is My Name.

As of now, a nomination for Sandler looks like at least a decent possibility, but his winning the award would have to be considered a long shot. At the very least, after garnering buzz for dramatic performances in two out of the last three years, Sandler has to be credited with shedding the “comedy star” tag and establishing himself as a legitimate performer. As for his threat to make a bad movie on purpose (something he absolutely has never done before), it can be argued that Sandler’s resume is already so filled with bad movies that one more wouldn’t make much difference.
